Polynesian Spa appoints new Chief Executive
February 1, 2015
Rotorua hotelier, Gert Taljaard, has been appointed as the new Chief Executive for Polynesian Spa.
Mr Taljaard is currently General Manager of the Sudima Lake Rotorua Hotel, a role he has been in since 2011. In that time he has also been the Area Manager responsible for the Sudima Hamilton Hotel and Chairperson of the Rotorua Hotel Sector for the Tourism Industry Association of NZ.
Polynesian Spa Director, Martin Lobb, says the board of Polynesian Spa is delighted to appoint someone of Mr Taljaard’s experience.
“Gert is well known in the local and inbound travel industry. He currently manages a facility with a similar staffing level and he is familiar with operating a business in Rotorua’s unique geothermal environment.
“We understand he is looking forward to the new challenge of operating outside the hotel sector and working for a visitor attraction with a long history and an iconic brand.
“Polynesian Spa has seen a significant period of development in recent years, including the complete refurbishment of the Aix therapy rooms, the opening of a new acidic mineral pool in the deluxe Lake Spa area and some other key projects which will be announced in the next few weeks.
“This is an exciting time for Polynesian Spa and we look forward to welcoming Gert on board.”
Mr Taljaard takes up his new position towards the end of March.
