• Sustainability

Polynesian Spa is innovative with its sustainability, continually improving its footprint on Planet Earth earning a Qualmark Sustainable Tourism Business Award.

Here’s some initiatives you may spot around the complex:

  • We capture steam that rises from geothermal activity to heat water and maintain pool temperatures harnessing the natural resource in place of electricity
  • Geothermal steam is used to heat 10 recliners in the Deluxe Lake Spa
  • Wondering how we get towels and robes dry from the laundry? You guessed it – geothermal
  • If you’re sitting in the cafe’s outdoor courtyard, you’ll get a pleasant surprise with the warmth coming from the seat also heated geothermally
  • Annually Polynesian Spa works with the Department of Conservation to clean up the Sulphur Point Reserve and remove any rubbish that could affect the endangered birds in the area
  • You’ll spot environmentally friendly waste stations to separate recyclables on-site
  • Buying something from the Spa Essentials Shop? It will be popped in a biodegradable Eco Bag (made from corn) to take home
  • If you’re getting take away drinks or food from 88-Ra Cafe, you’ll get biodegradable Bon Accord cups, Taste Toolz paper straws or bamboo utensils
  • Biodegradable courier packaging is being used by the business day-to-day and is used to post purchases made in our online shop
  • We have an environmental policy for all maintenance projects and cleaning, including daily pool cleaning
