Aromatherapy - natural and versatile

Have the winter blues hit you? Feel like a natural pick me up?

Aromatherapy is becoming very popular, using highly concentrated plant oils or essential oils to help relax, energise, reduce stress and as a general benefit to well-being. It has been used by different cultures around the world for centuries with the uses being very diverse. The essential oils can be used for skin care and dealing with ailments to being used as cleaning products.

Oils can be blended according to your specific needs whether it is chamomile for calming, lavender for relaxing or eucalyptus for decongesting. They are also great for destroying bacteria, nourishing and healing skin, boosting the immune system, and is a refreshing fragrance around homes and workplaces (tip: peppermint is a nice scent to keep the mind alert). We respond quite strongly to scents and smells as they stimulate our limbic system, linked to memories and moods, making it a great way to relieve stress!

By incorporating these oils in to a gentle massage you will not only benefit from inhaling the soothing oils but they will also be absorbed through the skin. A few drops of the oils in a bath at home can also be a nice alternative to experience the effects of these wonderfully soothing oils.

We offer an Aromatherapy Massage in our Lake Spa Retreat, designed specifically to enhance the soothing effects of these essential oils. This massage focusses on the nervous and lymphatic systems to help relax the mind and unwind any tension in the body.
