Arthritis sufferers find relief with geothermal waters

People around the world have been visiting our healing geothermal waters for 140 years to alleviate their arthritis pain.

It all started when Father Mahoney, a Catholic Priest bathed in our waters in 1878, and proclaimed he was ‘cured’ of his crippling arthritis. The global reputation spread and we named our Priest Spring after this man of faith.

Adult Pools and Priest Spa Maintenance

As from Tuesday 5th June work will start on decking replacement around the Adult Pools and Priest Spa area. Work will occur in stages and will not impact opening hours or useability of the area. Work will continue until the 6th July when they will stop for the school holidays. Work will occur dunring the day concluding at 4pm each day. We will assess progress at the break for School holidays and work may continue to complete the project after that date.

Heated Seats Arrive In The Deluxe Lake Spa

Polynesian Spa is happy to welcome its newest addition to the Deluxe Lake Spa. A new heated seat area has been built next to the 36 degree Rachel Spring Pool. This area houses 5 brand new geothermally heated recliners. The recliners are a great sustainable addition to the premium bathing area. The heated recliners installed in 2015 are hugely popular so its great to be able to provide more of these to guests.

Polynesian Spa development projects 2017 | Cafe, Lake Spa Seating, Adult Pools

Starting 24 July 2017, several development projects are underway at Polynesian Spa. The Cafe is being redeveloped from the ground up, more geothermally heated recliners are being installed in the Deluxe Lake Spa area, and, another Priest Pool is being relined in the Adult Pools Area. The new cafe, shown above in the architects render, is set to bring a level of offering to match the outstanding bathing, therapy, and gifting currently found at Polynesian Spa.

They may be noisy but did you know that the black-billed gulls at Polynesian Spa are the most threatened gull species in the world?

Sulphur Bay Wildlife Sanctuary, a unique hot spot on our shores, is home to the black-billed gull, as well as the more common red-billed gull. The gulls of Sulphur Bay are also rare as they are not usually found in geothermal environments; these species are typically found along braided rivers, mostly in the South Island.
